Kind Words:
I met Steph several years ago when she was invited to do a garden celebration at the Harvard Medical School. From the first moment I saw someone who is knowledgeable and kind, intelligent and full of grace. Steph has done several herb walks for me and my pharmacy students since that day. She is a great teacher – Steph pulls students in with her plant stories, she shares with them her enthusiasm for healing and living a life where plants play a prominent role. Steph’s gentle yet powerful spirit opens the doors of communication. Herbal practitioner, educator, learner, Stephanie Zabel is always a pleasure to be around, learn from and absorb an amazing wisdom of plants. Thanks, Steph, for offering The Trustees an outstanding program. You provided a fantastic program for our visitors to deepen their understanding of our herbal remedies. We loved how you wove in warnings and ethical collecting within the vast knowledge and personal use of each specimen. Tremendous thanks, Steph, for sharing your messages, your knowledge, and your enlivening passion for our earth’s treasures. You are a superstar with a talent for teaching. The teas you provided were perfect! I recommend Steph to almost everyone I know and can't say enough great things about her. Her approach is gentle and incredibly thoughtful with great respect to what works best for each individual. Steph's passion for and knowledge of plants and flowers makes her a wonderfully skilled herbalist and her ability to listen and create a warm, comfortable place to share makes her such a wonderful healer. I have worked with Steph over the past few years and there are many ways I enjoy and admire working with her: she is an extremely knowledgeable community herbalist, very approachable, willing to share her knowledge, has a great sense of humor, and is generous with her time by providing classes as part of non-for-profit programs. I find her work to be fascinating -- she is the founder of Herbstalk, offers holistic health consultations, gathers wild plants, and hand-crafts herbal medicines. Steph is very busy, very capable and very sharing -- a great combination and an excellent community resource. Thank you so much for donating your time and talents to the garden community! I know that several people have commented to me about how wonderfully warm and informative they found you to be! It especially made my heart glad that our immigrant community was able to identify with the health potential of plants they recognized from their countries of origin. I appreciate you being a part of the process that creates and strengthens my community! What a fabulous presentation you offered to our community! I personally found the information you offered very accessible and interesting, and I learned a lot more about the herbs that we are growing in our garden. It is also worth noting that our more experienced faculty and staff members also took away new information, and were very pleased with the presentation you gave. So many folks approached me and told me how much they appreciated the information you provided, as well as the samples you brought. Steph's herb class was extremely informative and interesting. On her plant walk she taught us how to identify different plants, their medicinal qualities, and how to use them on a day to day basis. Our group was completely mesmerized by her knowledge and we hope to have her back in the future. It was such a treat to have her come spread her wealth of knowledge of herbs with us. Steph's tea blending class was a delight. She is a great teacher - very positive and knowledgeable, able to field all kinds of questions. I understand the basics of tea blending now and feel empowered and encouraged to experiment! We made and tried several different blends, plus I walked away with a couple bags of lovely herbal teas (each for a different mood/intention) that I have been drinking at home. Steph is an inspiration to me. She has so much to teach us about plants as medicine. I attended a class taught and designed by Steph and walked away feeling uplifted and more educated about what is available to us and what we can do with it to contribute to our own health and well being. I am excited to learn more from Steph about this wonderful and mysterious plant world in future workshops. Steph is very knowledgeable and her well-organized class allows attendees to absorb a lot of useful information about herbal preparations in a short time. Her enthusiasm and love of herbs is catching. She has a healthy respect for the many properties of herbs and is able to communicate that while at the same time empowering her students to work confidently to create herbal remedies. |
